Rock and Roll

When I arrived here in 2000 there was a bowling alley at the entrance of town. In 2004 it was featured in a movie that just celebrated its 20th anniversary, Sideways. But in between the filming of the scene and the movie’s release, the owner of the bowling alley decided there was more money in the land it sat on and the wood the lanes were made from than the number of people or leagues actually bowling, so sadly it was dismantled and sold. I have learned that we had a small bowling alley in the building on south H street across from Centennial Park in the early 20th century but it also lost appeal and closed. But many of you miss the fun and skill of bowling and drive to Santa Maria or Goleta to bowl.

There is also many who would love more live music venues in town with so many working musicians honing there talent in our backyard. Many would prefer not to go to a bar so their kids could enjoy a family music experience. This is where the “Rock and Roll” idea comes together. There are a number of buildings in town that need rehabilitation or occupancy that turning into any one thing might not be feasible. But having a small bowling alley with a stage and food options might just be the right combination of revenue and fun to succeed. So if anyone likes the idea - its yours or come see me for more on this idea!
